Isabella Despujols

Portrait of Isabella Despujols

About the artist

Isabella Despujols is a visual artist from Venezuela with a focus on handmade embroidery. Despujols graduated with a BFA from the International University of Art and Design in Miami and holds a degree in Art History from the University of Palermo in Buenos Aires. When it comes to creating, there are two universes that particularly inspire Isabella: Kinetic Art, especially the artists Cruz Diez and Jesús Soto, and embroidery and its feminine tradition.

Max Steven Grossman

Portrait of Max Steven Grossman

About the artist

The emergence of virtual, digital worlds has affected almost every aspect of contemporary life. New forms of inhabiting both those new algorithmic worlds and the physical world emerge, through new relationships between the human and the machine. Two objects that have punctuated key moments in the history of Western modernity have undergone a process of radical transformation since the advent of the digital: books and photographs. Max Steven Grossman’s bookscapes question these transformations. Printed large enough to pass as an actual library, these images point to the gradual loss of paper books, especially those that inhabited homes and fostered learning, dreaming and escapes.

03

Kyle Schuman

About the artist

In Kyle Schuman’s oil paintings on plywood panels, he utilizes the natural grain and rings of the wood as a framework for exploring vibrant color. The subtly repeating shapes create pattern out of randomness; celebrating the math found in nature. The bold colors create form out of these patterns, and add dimension to their flat surface. The contrast between the smooth texture of the wood and the rich, hand-worked layers of oil paint creates a visual and tactile experience that rewards close inspection.

04

Mojo

About the artist

Mojo, created by Johan Andersson is the youngest ever to exhibit at the National Portrait gallery London and winner of the Jerwood Contemporary painters prize London. The seductive gorgeous colors are enhanced by the physicality of the paint and the surface presence of color executed in a Raw, instinctive and fluid fashion where all risk is taken in every stroke with nothing held back giving us a fresh and free approach to a portrait.
