Mark Wagner

About the artist

Mark Wagner is best known for his intricate collages made entirely from deconstructed US dollars. Wagner destroys thousands of bills yearly to create works which pointedly and playfully explore the intersection of wealth, power, value, and American identity. Wagner’s audacious destruction of this revered icon of American commerce is checked only by his virtuoso material manipulation, which renders what you will... portraits, plant life, fantastical beasts, or allegorical scenes recasting George Washington in every roll.

Wagner’s artwork is an entry point to a conversation extending far beyond the art world. Decades dedicated to destroying banknotes has provided Wagner with a unique perspective on the nature of money. Modern man’s obsession with finance and our wistful attempts to tame it through economics belies money’s emotional, mercurial... even fictional nature. Wagner addresses these issues in writing, lecture, and interview as eloquently as he does through his artwork.

Mark Wagner is currently living and working out of Lancaster PA USA. Wagner’s work is collected by dozens of institutions including the Smithsonian Institution, the Library of Congress, and Museum of Modern Art. It has shown extensively including at The Metropolitan Museum, The Getty Research Institute, and National Portrait Gallery. It’s been seen in Time, Newsweek, Harpers, and Art in America as well as on CBS, PBS, and the silver screen.

Mike Rea

Portrait of Mike Rea

About the artist

Mike Rea is a sculptor and educator whose work blends cinematic references with personal narratives. Based in Chicago, his large-scale, multifaceted wooden sculptures explore themes of humor, violence, vulgarity, and sensitivity, merging elements of science fiction, horror, comedy, and drama. Rea transforms everyday objects into uncanny, interactive installations, challenging and surprising viewers.

Rea earned his MFA in Sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and currently teaches at Northern Illinois University. His work reflects a culture that critiques and celebrates the extremes of human experience, often using exaggerated forms to provoke thought and engagement. Through his dynamic sculptures, Rea examines the intersection of personal history and the collective imagination, offering a playful yet critical perspective on contemporary life.

Galen Gibson-Cornell

Portrait of Galen Gibson-Cornell

About the artist

Galen Gibson-Cornell sources his materials from the streets of New York, Berlin, Budapest, Buenos Aires, and other global centers. He slices and weaves found posters into mesmerizing symphonies of color and texture that evoke the dynamism of urban life.

“To me, street-posters compose the figurative skin of these cities; and by collecting, deconstructing, and weaving them back into new forms, I’m sort of filtering it through my own unique algorithm. It’s my way of interacting with a new place, and so these weavings are like site-specific memories of my experience in the world.”

The Missouri native holds an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a specialization in printmaking and is a Fulbright Scholar after his fellowship to Hungary in 2013-2014. Gibson-Cornell’s work has exhibited at the Poster House Museum in New York, and the Museum of Wisconsin Art, and is in the permanent collections of Microsoft, Vea Newport Beach, Montefiore Hospital System NYC, and QUAD Austin TX, and numerous other private collections
