Jacqulin Nagel

Portrait of Jacqulin Nagel

About the artist

Jacquelin Nagel received her BA from Loyola Marymount University and her MFA from Laguna College of Art and Design. Nagel’s paintings existing at the intersection of painting, drawing, and photography. Her preparatory work consists of collages created from her own sketches and photography. From there she moves into paint. Deeply rooted in technique, Nagel uses an Old Master glazing technique which gives her paintings intense luminosity and saturation.

Nagel’s oil paintings revolve around the concept of growth. Growth is a beautiful experience but can also bring about a whirlwind of uncomfortable feelings. In her paintings, Nagel is capturing this duality and exploring how these internal dialogues impact our lived experiences.
