About the artist

Karl Orion (b. Denver) is a multidisciplinary artist recognized for his richly detailed oil paintings that depict a cohesive, deeply layered otherworldly realm. Having studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Orion maintains an active practice as both an artist and educator through the Art Students League of Denver. His work uses imagined botanicals, flora, and fauna as complex allegories for mental states, social concerns, and the human experience, a technique praised by The Wall Street Journal critic Brian P. Kelly for drawing on Dutch Golden Age traditions to invert classic still lifes. Orion’s paintings have been featured in premier exhibitions and contemporary fairs nationally, including SPRING/BREAK Art Show, the Hamptons Fine Art Fair, and a solo presentation with Blumka Contemporary at Future Fair.

About the artist

Born in Calgary, Canada, Nick Rooney holds a Master of Arts in Painting from the University of the Arts London (Camberwell College of Arts). His practice investigates the tension between geometric minimalism and classical realism, examining how oil painting can simultaneously create the illusion of depth while embracing flat, abstract forms. By placing classical subjects in abstracted environments defined by balance and transition, his compositions create a friction that challenges how meaning is constructed. Rooney has exhibited internationally, and his work is held in major collections such as TC Energy and the Glenbow’s JR Shaw Institute for Art.
