Portrait of Lærke Lillelund

About the artist

Lærke Lillelund is a textile artist and designer based in Copenhagen. Her work explores the combinations and discoveries that lie in merging traditional textile craft with digital and innovative technologies. Her background in costume, furniture, and production design drives a hands-on approach, where the physical processes and techniques become an essential part of her creations.

Her practice is rooted in tactile exploration and meticulous handwork. By merging Japanese Shibori techniques and hand-dyeing with custom 3D-printing, laser-cutting, and optic fibers, Lillelund creates new material realities. She permanently transforms sheer fabrics like organza through heat-setting, shaping delicate fibers into fixed, three-dimensional forms.

Lillelund’s work is characterized by its transparency, floating nature and its dynamic interaction with light and space. Her large-scale sculptures are designed to be experienced as living installations. By experimenting with new material combinations, she challenges our perception of textiles, creating spatial works defined by tactility and poetic engineering.
