Mary Royall Wilgis

About the artist
Mary Royall Wilgis is a Brooklyn-based light painter whose practice explores how light shapes space, measures time, and defines color. Through a process she calls “light foraging,” Wilgis captures fleeting atmospheric compositions on raw canvas, translating them into paintings using Flashe ink that evoke photographic processes while preserving singular, unrepeatable moments. Drawing inspiration from the Light and Space movement and philosophical inquiries into perception, her work has been exhibited at PAD Paris, Hamptons Fine Art Fair, Amelie du Chalard, Uprise Art, and DC Moore. Her practice has received international recognition in British Vogue, ELLE Decoration France, The Art Newspaper, Milk Decoration, and Paper Magazine, among others.
